During the season (April to October) details of the walks and boat trips which I am planning will be published here and updated on a weekly basis. Please note that many of these are weather-dependent and that the boatmen's decision is final.
If you are visiting Scilly and would like to visit a particular uninhabited island, please contact me two to three weeks in advance and I will try to arrange it while you are here.
I will be leading walks on Tresco on several dates between April and October. You can find all the details at https://www.tresco.co.uk/enjoying/events/archaeology-walks-with-dr-katharine-sawyer . Advance booking is advisable.
Week commencing Saturday 12 July
Sunday 13th, 9.45am
The Community Archaeology Group will be carrying out vegetation clearance around the mediaeval hermitage site on St Helen's. Everyone is welcome to come and help. Meet at the 'Scilly Walks' board on St Mary's Quay. There will be a beach landing on St Helen's so be prepared to paddle. Please wear walking shoes or trainers and bring a picnic lunch and a drink. The return boat will be at about 2.30pm.
Weeks commencing Saturday 19 and Saturday 26 July
No walks or boat trips.
Week commencing Saturday 2 August
Monday 4th, 1.45pm
Guided walk on Samson. Meet at the 'Scilly Walks' board on St Mary's Quay, return to St Mary's at c5.15pm. No need to book. Beach landing so be prepared to paddle. Please wear walking shoes or trainers, flip-flops are not suitable for this walk. Adults £10.00, children 10 and over £5.00 (cash only please), plus boat fare.
