In 2018 I will be guiding an archaeological holiday for Brookland Travel and walking holidays for HF Holidays.
I will be leading walking holidays in Scilly for HF Holidays again in 2018. There will be nine 6 night holidays, based at the Bell Rock Hotel on St Mary's, between April and September. We spend a full day walking on each of the inhabited islands: St Mary's, Tresco (with an opportunity to visit the Abbey Garden), St Agnes and Gugh, St Martin's and Bryher.
Full details on HF Holidays' website.
The archaeological holiday will take place between 18 and 22 May and will be based at Tregarthen's Hotel on St Mary's. It includes a full day's tour of Tresco with a guided visit to the world-famous Abbey Garden. As well as its spectacular sub-tropical plants, the Garden contains a Roman altar, the ruins of an early mediaeval Benedictine priory and a collection of ships' figureheads.
We will also visit Old Town, the mediaeval centre of population on St Mary's, with its 12th century church and other mediaeval survivals. In addition, we will spend a day walking on St Agnes and Gugh, visiting a number of Bronze Age burial chambers, a standing stone and seeing Troytown Maze and the 17th century lighthouse.
The cost (based on two people sharing a room) is from £799 per person and full details are available from Brookland Travel.
